My name is Michelle and I am about to graduate from the LINKS Institute Mental Wellness & Harm Reduction Worker Diploma.
When I started my journey with LINKS Institute in August 2021, I didn’t realize how incredibly rewarding it was going to be. The support I had from LINKS Institute right from the beginning, up until my practicum placement, is something I have never experienced before in an educational setting. LINKS’ commitment to their students, and the knowledge and experiences of the instructors, has allowed me to grow and feel more empowered in my learning. Every educator who has taught each course, has created a safe space to be real and honest about my journey. It wasn’t just about learning the material itself, but I was also challenged within my own belief system, and I have personally grown exponentially in the last 8 months.

Living in rural Manitoba, moving into a city wasn’t an option for me to attend school. The fact that LINKS has classes online worked perfectly for me to attend from home, and the LINKS Institute virtual learning platform was quite easy to navigate. If I had any questions or concerns about the website, there was always somebody there to assist my needs. Not once did I feel like I wasn’t being heard or listened to. I fully believe that LINKS’ desire to see their students succeed, is genuine and consistent. I was always treated as an individual.
Not only has my educational experience helped me grow in so many ways, I also formed lasting friendships with some of the students, which has been amazing! My time with LINKS Institute is just the beginning of an incredible future and career in the helping field, and as a result of the support and openness I received from everyone, there is no doubt in my mind that I am fully equipped to be an asset to any employer in this field.
