This course will prepare students with theory and skills to de-escalate crisis in health & social service settings and to collaborate with other members of a team including first responders. Key concepts will include include therapeutic communication techniques for working with people who are experiencing crisis, and models of prioritization and crisis management

  • Differentiate types of crises and discuss appropriate responses
  • Understand the importance of multicultural awareness in crises
